The Shoo Fly Blues was born out of the musical melting pot of talent that was created by the jam nights at one of Danbury's premier music venues, Blues Alley. All the musicians in the band played there regularly, although not always with one another.
Enter guitarist Dave Houlbrooke, who thought it a great opportunity to expand the range of their performances by working as a group. Their efforts resulted in a full evenings worth of entertainment-with a variety of selections, both old and new.
The band's repertoire includes songs by Etta James, Susan Tedeschi and Debbie Davies. In recent months, The Shoo Fly Blues has performed at many local venues including Greenwoods, Redding Roadhouse, Georgetown Saloon, and a spot at the Hudson Jazz Festival two years running.
